Layne's Legacy - Beading For A Cure is a beading challenge conducted on an annual
basis to raise money for the National Colorectal Cancer Research Association.
This project is both a charitable gift and an artistic challenge. The challenge is to see what
can be designed using at least one of every bead in a kit - the same kit everyone starts with.
The challenge is part of the gift - using your creativity to produce something of beauty that
will be different from everyone else's, while all are using exactly the same materials.
When the projects are complete, they are sent to be photographed and then all of the projects
are offered up for auction on eBay. The money raised from the sale of the items (minus
standard operating costs) are donated in Layne's name to the NCCRA.

BFAC Rules are as follows:
1. You must use at least one of each bead in the kit.

2. You may add one bead type of your own. (Example: An additional color seed bead in one
size, additional accent beads such as pearls, glass, firepolish or crystal of the same size &
color. You may not add, for instance, 4mm and 6mm firepolish in cobalt. You could add one
size or the other.)

3. You may add findings or metal spacer-type beads in addition to your added bead (see #2
above).

4. You may use fibers, pendants, focal beads or art bead sets. You may add pillows, totes,
stuffed forms, or any other item you’d like to ornament.

5. You may purchase more than one kit, but you must submit a project for each kit
purchased.

6. If you just need a few of one of the beads in the kit, you may ask another member of the
challenge to send you some, sell you some or swap with you for what you need.

7. If you need additional beads from the kit they may be purchased from Beyond Beadery -
www.beyondbeadery.com

8. You must fill out and return the enclosed registration form with your project.
This year, all completed projects will be shipped to AJ Reardon, who has generously donated
her time to photograph your projects and also to ship auction wins out.

9. Finished projects must be received NO LATER than July 15th, 2008.
Please send via Insured Priority Mail.

Ship to:
AJ Reardon
BFAC Project
PO Box 57730
Tucson, AZ 85732-7730

Projects that are received late, or that do not meet the criteria of the challenge
(see Rules #1 & 2) will be returned to to the sender.

10. Because a portion of the kit is part of the charitable donation (the kit fee is substantially
less than the retail value of the beads), if you do not complete your project in time and submit it for auction you will:
A) Not be invited to participate in the following year's challenge
B) Be expected to donate money in a total amount consistent with what you expected the value of your donation to be. This money will be handed over to the NCCRA along with
money collected from the auction wins.

Any exceptions to rule #10 will need to be reviewed by the BFAC committee for approval.
